This section provides detailed steps and associated screen captures of setting up your AWS Educated Starter Account. Be aware that AWS continuously updates their user interfaces, therefore; your screens may look slightly different but the overall functionality and end results will be the same.

  1. Search for the AWS Educate URL or use this one:

https://aws.amazon.com/education/awseducate/

  1. Click on the Join AWS Educate button as shown in Figure 1.

 

  1. Select the Student option from available roles as shown in figure 2.

  1. Enter your information. Be sure to type in University of Maryland, University College for the institution. Also, be sure to use your UMUC student email ([email protected]). If you don’t, the process will not work and significant delays in receiving your AWS Educate account will result.

When completing the form, your major, course, graduate date can just be estimates if you don’t know for sure.

  1. Select I am not a robot and then Next to continue. (See figure 3).

  1. Be sure to select the AWS Educate Starter Account to avoid providing your credit card. You will eventually be assigned specific credits for AWS services based on your class enrollment.

  1. Upon successful request, you will receive a Thank you with details asking you to check your student email account. (See figure 5).

  1. Check your student email to reply to the AWS confirmation. Read the email and click on the link to complete the application process as shown in figure 6.

  1. After clicking on the link in your student email, you will be presented some conditions to agree to. Read the conditions and the select “I agree” and then click on “Submit”.

  1. You will receive a message that your request is being reviewed as shown in figure 8.

After receiving approval, you will be given options to login and change your AWS Educate password. Be sure to document and remember your username and password credentials. You will need these to login each time you access the AWS Classroom
